About the artwork
A young woman flies upward on a swing while a hidden admirer watches from the garden below. The flying slipper, Cupid statue, and soft foliage turn flirtation into a scene of secrecy and erotic play. Fragonard gives Rococo pleasure a bright surface, but the symbolism keeps the scene morally unstable.
