About the sculpture
Mary stands crowned with the Christ Child, her body shaped by the elegant curve of late Gothic court style. The child’s globe points to Christ as ruler and savior, while Mary’s royal bearing presents her as Queen of Heaven. Its survival through the Notre-Dame fire made it a modern symbol of continuity and devotion.
